A brief for was developed and a consortium of leading experts was contracted, comprising of Etude, Elementa Consulting, Passivhaus Trust and Levitt Bernstein.
A project team, comprising of climate officers from the three local councils and the consultants, enjoyed a strong collaborative, co-development process with each member of the team bringing different experience and local issues to bear.
The toolkit – which pulls together the latest guidance and best practice in achieving net zero homes - has been enthusiastically received by both industry professionals and council members. The guide is packed full of practical, easy to follow guidance. In terms of new build projects the toolkit covers a range of steps - from pre-planning and design right through to construction - for delivering net-zero carbon, low-energy homes.
It also gives homeowners looking to retrofit or extend their existing property, guidance and advice on what they need to consider and how they can implement energy efficiency measures and begin the process of decarbonising their homes in an affordable, planned approach.
