The partnership is still in its early stages of development, but a website has just been launched forestofdeanclimateaction.org.uk.
It is expected that the partnership will deliver a wide range of community climate mitigation and adaptation projects, each with their own set of related co-benefits.
By working together, local stakeholders will hopefully be able to benefit from the economies of scale, ideas innovation, and skills and knowledge sharing that successful partnership working can deliver.
The measures combined are estimated to save the Council around 38 t C02e and £20k in energy bills per year. Whilst the Council is in a fortunate position to have received the funding from Salix, even without it the payback period would have been well within 10 years, demonstrating that investing in renewable energy generation and energy efficiency measures can be financially viable.
