The impact

Benefits of the measures we’re taking include greener and more energy efficient campuses, including in our redevelopment of the former Debenhams building in Gloucester into a new City Campus, savings on energy costs, and improved health from lower carbon travel and better air quality for the wider community.

While others may approach net zero by relying on carbon offsetting, we’re confident our plan will make a real difference in driving down our emissions, and educating and influencing others to do the same. We continue to be active in local and regional forums to combine and amplify our efforts, including joint initiatives on lower carbon transport and Net Zero implementation.

Our ambitions, however, go far beyond Net Zero. We connect sustainability learning, research and practice, including our impact through collaboration within and beyond the higher education sector.

Recent examples of our learning collaborations in sustainability in the region:

  • Our Graphic Design course assignments supporting CheltenhamZero climate action partnership
  • Our Radical Sustainability student competition and business masterclass, with expert input from corporate sustainability pioneers, ‘Interface’
  • Our recent fashion education project ‘Thread Counts’ in collaboration with schools in the Cheltenham Education Partnership
  • Our business-focused Mission Net Zero webinar in partnership with Gloucester Cathedral
