Cycle and walking investment strategy

The Cycling Strategy for Gloucestershire is set out in Gloucestershire’s Local Transport Plan (LTP). Underneath the LTP sit the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIP) for specific areas. At present we have one adopted LCWIP, for the Cheltenham and Gloucester areas and we are in the process of finalising both the LCWIP for Stroud and the LCWIP for Tewkesbury.

The Gloucestershire Local Transport Plan (2020-2041) (PDF, 10.6 MB)  (PDF, 10.6 MB) sets out the long-term strategic transport vision for the County to 2041. Gloucestershire’s vision for transport is:

‘A resilient transport network that enables sustainable economic growth by providing travel choices for all, making Gloucestershire a better place to live, work and visit’

The strategy outlines Government’s ambition ‘to make cycling and walking the natural choices for shorter journeys or as part of a longer journey.
