An individual’s carbon footprint is based on the amount of gaseous carbon emitted into the atmosphere as a result of the activities in their daily lives. This can include emissions from travel, food and drink, leisure activities, heating and powering our homes and the things we buy.

The Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions CREDS place-based carbon calculator was launched in July 2021. Designed by researchers from CREDS, it is a free tool that maps the carbon footprint of every neighbourhood in England. For more information, visit the carbon calculator.
