Safeguarding adults training
“Safeguarding is everyone's business”
Part of the role of Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults Board (GSAB) is to ensure people can access the training needed to protect adults who have care and support needs.
The GSAB has a recommended Multi-Agency Training Pathway for all organisations and partners; most organisations will be accessing Levels 1 to 3.
Safeguarding Adults Basic Awareness Induction (Level 1)
This E-learning training is for anyone who comes into contact with adults who have care and support needs, and it is a part of their role to protect them from abuse and neglect. This E-Learning is free to access for anyone living or working in Gloucestershire.
This module looks at what abuse is, how to recognise it, and what to do if you suspect an adult is being abused. It also supports the achievement of Standard 10 of the Care Certificate Framework.
Safeguarding Adults Level 2 (Foundation)
This Level 2 course is a half-day face-to-face session delivered by a GSAB approved trainer.
It is for all front line staff that have direct contact with adults with care and support needs.
Outcomes of this course include; exploring what Safeguarding is and your role in Safeguarding Adults, identifying an adult in potential need of Safeguarding, and the action to take. As well as how to apply a person centered approach when working with individuals.
This training is valid for three years. You are required to complete the Level 1 E-learning prior to attending this course.
Safeguarding Level 2 needs to be formally updated every three years, with employers assessing individual knowledge and competence regularly and refreshing as appropriate.

Multi-agency Safeguarding Adults (Level 3)
Safeguarding Level 3 training is a one day multi-agency programme for professionals / managers with organisational responsibility for reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns (e.g. Safeguarding Leads, Care Home Mangers etc.)
This training will enable delegates to demonstrate skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the Safeguarding process, how to appropriately support individuals to understand safeguarding issues to maximise their decision making, and provide them with a knowledge of local and national policies, legislation and procedures.
The Safeguarding Level 1 and Level 2 training should be completed prior to attendance
Specialist Safeguarding (Level 4)
This one day course provides specialist training for investigators / professionals undertaking the lead role in Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries. It focuses on the safeguarding process, providing expert input, peer support and opportunity for practice reflection through role play. Staff attending should normally have attended safeguarding adults Level 2 and Level 3 training prior to commencing this course.
The course is mandatory for Social Workers, Advanced practitioners, and all other roles that lead on Section 42 Enquiries.
In addition to this course, we now offer half day sessions on Self Neglect and Safeguarding Adults, Domestic Abuse, and Chairing Safeguarding Adults meetings. Delegates must have attended Safeguarding Adults Level 4 prior to booking any of these sessions.
