Profile

  • I have been an inner city primary school teacher for the past 25 years
  • During this time I have been a GlosEd leader, Advanced Skills Teacher for a curriculum area and Training Manager for GTP (Graduate Teacher Programme) route in to teaching, enabling me to work with a range of schools in Gloucestershire.
  • I have been Parental Engagement Coordinator since 2014, supporting all parents, including parents of children with SEND and EAL needs.
  • I have spoken at a conference in London (attended mainly by SENDCos) addressing the challenges when engaging parents of children with EHCPs.
  • I have coordinated the whole school to achieve the Leading Parent Partnership award in July 2016 which included developing links with a wide range of external partners.
  • I coordinate support for all families including those with English as an additional language, refugee families and those that need access to preschool provision or help with transition to secondary schools.
  • I support class teachers to deliver homework training (initially based on the ‘Impact for Learning’ framework) to parents. Also to facilitate joint parent/child lessons with a particular focus eg learning to read with Reception classes and teaching problem solving with Year 5 children.
