Profile
- I have been an English GlosEd Leader for 4 years.
- I was trained as a Middle Years English teacher and so have an expertise in upper KS2 and transition into secondary school.
- I worked for 5 years as a year 3-6 class teacher and so have a broad experience for planning across year groups and ensuring progression within mixed aged classes.
- I helped move my school from special measures to Good by raising standards in writing and reading and developing our middle leaders (see below)
- I have helped develop middle leadership within my own and other schools (especially for staff new to the role). My brief has, for example, focused on enabling whole school consistency, effective monitoring and evaluation cycles and targeted action planning to address gaps in attainment /progress and support CPD
- I have supported the teaching of grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) within my and other schools by leading staff meetings, insets and parent workshops. My sessions focus on how GPS skills can improve writing in general rather than a narrow approach focused on national tests.
- I have a particular interest in teaching poetry and have presented my work at English subject leader network meetings.
