I have been an English GlosEd leader for about 9 years.
Over that time, I have provided support for some schools in the effective teaching of reading and writing in Key Stage 1 and 2.
Within my school, I have worked with colleagues to improve guided writing in Key stage 1 and 2 by monitoring and observing planning and lessons. After discussion with teachers and some demonstration lessons, teachers felt more confident in being able to improve the standard of writing within their class.
I have also recently delivered some whole school training to improve the teaching of reading comprehension skills in every year group. This training has also been the basis of a sharing good practice workshop that I am presenting in English Subject Leader meetings in November 2018.
I have taught in Year 2 for the last 4 years and have worked closely with colleagues during the assessment process at the end of Key Stage 1. A secure knowledge of the assessment frameworks and exemplification materials as they have changed over the last few years has been vital in maintaining an accurate and robust assessment process in our school. I have also supported other schools in moderating writing over the last 4 years.
From the 2018-19 academic year, I will also be working as a KS1 external moderator for the county.
