Profile

Teaching background

  • I currently teach year 5 at St White’s Primary school in Cinderford.
  • I have previously taught in years 1 and 6.
  • Since October 2018, I have been Physical Education subject lead.
  • In 2015 I achieved a first-class honours degree in Sports Education from the University of Gloucestershire.

Subject leader experience

  • I have introduced baselines and assessments aimed to support pupils’ development of basic fundamental skills.
  • I have provided CPD to raise the profile of sport whilst creating an ‘active classroom’.
  • I have regularly analysed the use of the sports premium grant and have created new innovative ways to use outside companies to support the teaching and progress of pupils.
  • As a school, we have implemented a new ethos and attitude towards sportsmanship and have developed pupils’ attitude towards both winning and losing.
  • With colleges, we have utilised competition where all children are competing to represent their school or their houses.
  • I have created opportunities for disadvantaged children to engage and watch professional sport with the aim to keep pupils engaged in lifelong sport.
  • I regularly take park in CPD provided by the School Games, Active Gloucestershire and The Youth Sport Trust and attend yearly conferences held by Fortuis to keep up to date with current practice.
