Profile

I have taught for 8 years across all key stages and I am currently (2016-17) Deputy Head Teacher and Year 3 class teacher. I have recently been part of an Action Research Project on AFL with Shirley Clarke. This involved researching different AFL foci including mixed ability pairing, success criteria, talk partners, feedback and marking and enabling children to select their own challenges.

I am part of the senior leadership team which led my school out of ‘Special Measures’ to ‘Good’. I have had experience of organising HMI visits, leading learning walks with inspectors, joint lesson observations, monitoring meetings and data scrutiny with particular focus on Pupil Premium and progress.

I organise a cycle of whole school monitoring of teaching, planning, assessment and pupil progress. I hold 6 termly monitoring meetings with staff to discuss pupil progress and attainment. I organise a timetable of interventions for focus children identified in these meetings. These may be children who are behind in either progress or attainment or need higher challenge.

Within my leadership role I am currently developing reading across the whole school, including reading for pleasure. ‘Reading Recruits’, a ‘Reading army’, purchase of online reading materials, recommended reads, Read to Dogs Scheme and a review of guided reading are some of the projects I have been working on.
