Since qualifying as a MaST and GlosEd leader, I have worked with Head Teachers, School Intervention Advisers and governors to provide support in primary schools across Gloucestershire, through coaching and mentoring staff and guiding subject leaders. Areas of expertise include:
- How to make assessment an effective teaching tool
- Writing and evaluating action plans to achieve whole school key issues
- Monitoring of children's books, undertaking learning walks and performing lesson observations
- Coaching, mentoring and providing generic and individual feedback
- Developing calculation policies to improve how written methods progress throughout the school
- Improving the use of practical equipment and visual models and images to aid learning
- Differentiation to ensure all abilities are challenged
- Effective questioning
- Developing AfL
- Using maths in more real life contexts
- Developing talking maths resources to promote discussion, particularly girls
- Developing mental maths strategies and recall
- Strategies for improving home/school partnerships
