Attendance assists schools in the recording and monitoring of statutory session attendance and punctuality.

This extended 1/2 day course focuses on the role of the administrator or attendance officer but will also cover recording of attendance by teaching staff using Take Register (SIMS in the Classroom). If you are a secondary school and have purchased SIMS Lesson Monitor, please book yourself on the Lesson Monitor course- SC018 instead.

Who should attend?

Attendance Officer or SIMS Administrator with responsibility for attendance.

How will I benefit?

  • Keep timely and accurate attendance records to comply with statutory obligations.
  • Consider good working practices to deal with absence monitoring and fire drills.
  • Improve attendance rates through targeting and monitoring attendance and punctuality.
  • Populate School Census returns with Attendance data seamlessly.

What will I learn?

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Set up and configure the Attendance Module.
  • Add INSET days and enforced closures.
  • Enter and amend attendance marks and reasons for absence, including forward planning where appropriate.
  • Setup and use predefined letter templates using Microsoft Word.
  • Produce detailed statistical analysis reports.
  • Monitor attendance
  • Appreciate attendance from an Attendance Officer's and a Teacher's perspective
