A new base for the Gloucester and Forest Alternative Provision School (GFAPS): Rutherford House

As the new academic year starts the primary aged pupils registered with GFAPS and who attend the Joys Green Centre in Lydbrook move in to their new classrooms at Olympus Park in Quedgeley.

Work has been underway over the summer holidays, and is now complete, to provide new accommodation for The Gloucester and Forest Alternative Provision School (GFAPS).

The modern well equipped building was until quite recently used by Clearwater Church of England Primary Academy whilst they were waiting for their building to be ready to move in to. Some minor adaptations have been carried out over the summer to ensure the facilities meet the particular needs of an Alternative Provision school.

This new base offers a substantially improved learning environment when compared to The Joys Green Centre and (being more centrally located within the county) offers education closer to home for the vast majority of pupils who will have significantly reduced journey times.

The Centre will continue to offer the same range of services to Gloucestershire schools in supporting pupils who have been excluded, or are at risk of being excluded, from school and GFAPS continues to operate it's secondary aged provision from the sites in Gloucester: Russett House and The Raikes Centre.
