Gloucestershire County Council launches the nationally advertised competition to identify an academy trust to run the new special school to open in September 2023.

Approval has been given to launch a free school presumption competition (under Section 6A of the Education and Inspections Act 2006) to identify a suitable academy trust to run a new 60 place special school in Stroud for children aged 4-11 years with Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD). This is a nationally promoted competition, launching on 26th May 2022, with a closing date for application of noon on 27th June.

Gloucestershire County Council encourages trusts who have been approved by the DfE as academy sponsors, and who may be interested in applying, to make contact at the earliest stage of the application process.

The detailed specification document, along with further background information, is available to view on the GCC website.
