Activity on Referral - physical activity for mental wellbeing
Activity on Referral - a programme for all Trailblazer schools in the county that supports children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues by linking them to physical activity offers for all abilities, all free of charge for 12 weeks.
Do you have students in your school who experience mild to moderate mental health issues? Research shows that 1 in 5 young people experience mental health issues. Physical Activity has a great, beneficiary impact on our mental wellbeing.
Regular physical activity is associated with lower rates of depression and anxiety across all age groups. Physical activity does not always mean sport and is for everyone! The focus is always on it being fun and enjoyable, not a chore.
The Activity on Referral project has been running since last spring and many schools and families have experienced the great benefits physical activity has for those children and young people referred into the programme.
We can take individual referrals and fund young people to join a community club or activity close to them but we also have some opportunities for bespoke 6/12 week programs to be delivered within schools.
