Lord Agnew (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the School System) issued a letter to Directors of Children’s Services requesting that it is shared with state schools. Read the ‘Guidance for schools on leaving the EU’ letter online.

Arrangements for Professional Advice within Gloucestershire MASH

Week commencing 10th December 2018, the Professional Advice Line (PAL) will no longer be an operational resource within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub ( MASH).

The option to choose ‘advice’ when contacting the children’s services helpdesk will be removed leaving access to the social work triage desk only.

This triage desk will be populated with administration staff alongside qualified social workers and a manager who will process ‘concerns for children’.  Professional access to advice and guidance will be provided within this section of the MASH including acute concerns for the welfare of a child.  All contacts will be recorded and held within the ICS system.  This function will enable GCSC to evidence advice and guidance provided and to ensure that our accountability is secured.

The triage team will continue to offer advice and support to professionals on non specific child concerns.  Please note that should a specific child be highlighted then this will be recorded within the integrated social care system.

It will be really important for our partner agencies to always consider the issue of parental consent whenever contact is made to the MASH when concerned for a child (unless deemed an acute safeguarding issue).  This will be recorded in some circumstances by the Triage team as an outcome to the advice provided whereby it is deemed that a MARF should be submitted.  The triage team will have an overview of these particular outcomes and will follow up with the referring agent to ensure that a MARF is received.
