Keeping children safe in education: proposed revisions 2022 consultation – Closing date 8 March 2022

The Department for Education (DfE) is seeking views on proposed changes to the statutory guidance ‘Keeping children safe in education’ (KCSIE) with a view to implementation in September 2022.

The KCSIE guidance sets out what schools and colleges should do, and the legal duties with which they must comply, to keep children safe.

Following previous consultations, DfE made substantial changes to KCSIE, which came into force on 1 September 2021. Key changes included the incorporation of sexual violence and sexual harassment advice. DfE also set out, for the first time, that all governors and trustees should undertake safeguarding and child protection training.

The new consultation seeks to test those changes and closes on 8 March.
