Local Research on Year 7 Children

Published

Gloucestershire County Council and the NHS are supporting some local research that will go on to shape how local healthy weight services are delivered in Gloucestershire over the coming years and require secondary schools to help circulate a link to a short survey to parents of Year 7 children.

A local resident and PhD student, studying at Cardiff University, needs the help of schools to encourage as many Year 7 parents as possible to complete a short survey on the family home environment and the health and wellbeing of children.

We would be grateful if schools could circulate this link (https://cardiff.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/healthy-living-survey) to all parents/carers of Year 7 children. The research is the first in the country investigating why some children gain weight, but more specifically, what strategies parents successfully use to help children maintain or achieve a healthy weight. This will be important to inform future services and ensure parents and children receive the support they need to lead healthy lives.
