New Director of Education
Please see below message from Chris Spencer, Director of Children's Services.
I am sure you will have heard by now that “one of our own” has been appointed to the position of Director of Education at GCC. Kirsten Harrison, who is currently Head Teacher at Chosen Hill Academy was appointed to the position following a rigorous assessment and selection process. There was a high quality field of 28 applicants for the post but Kirsten’s performance during the assessment process placed her ahead of the field and I am delighted that she has accepted the post. Kirsten, who will be in post for the start of the new school year brings many strengths to the role including her track record as a successful Head Teacher in two Gloucestershire secondary schools, an active Ofsted inspector and as chair of the Gloucestershire Secondary School Head Teacher Association. Her appointment is great news for Gloucestershire Schools and will be a significant trigger for schools and other partners with an interest in school improvement to come together to deliver an even better educational offer for young people.
Finally, I would like to thank the three Head Teacher Associations, GASH GASSH and GAPH and the representative of the Gloucestershire school governor association who took part in the selection process and gave freely of their time.
