Religious education: Gloucestershire agreed syllabus extended to 2024

Agreed syllabus review

The current agreed syllabus runs from 2017-2024. However, this has been extended to 2024.

Agreed syllabus review

By law, an agreed syllabus must be reviewed every five years. Glos Standing Advisory Council on RE has decided to extend this by two years, so that it runs 2017-2024.

This decision has been taken to allow for lost time during the Covid lockdowns, and also to allow the current review of the syllabus to take account of national developments. Since 2018, the RE community has been responding to the national Commission on RE’s recommendation to move towards a ‘religion and worldviews’ approach. A new Draft Handbook has been published by the RE Council of England and Wales to offer guidance to SACREs on developing a syllabus. www.religiouseducationcouncil.org.uk/projects/draft-handbook-and-nse/ Glos SACRE will be using this guidance in its syllabus review
