Gloucestershire County Council has identified the need to establish two new primary schools following proposed developments in Chesterton & Stonehouse.

Chesterton Development

A housing development of 2300 new homes is planned on land in Chesterton, Cirencester.  As part of the supporting infrastructure a new 3FE primary school will be opened to serve the community.

Under the terms of the S106 agreement the school will be funded and delivered by the developer Bathurst Developments Ltd (BDL).  The School will be opened initially on a host site in September 2021, moving to its permanent site in September 2023.  The School will open in a phased manner, allowing it to grow gradually to accommodate new pupils as the housing comes on line.

Stonehouse Development

A housing development of 1350 new homes is planned on land west of Stonehouse. As part of the supporting infrastructure a new 1.5 FE primary school will be opened to serve the community.

Under the terms of the S106 agreement the school will be funded and delivered by the developer Robert Hitchins Ltd.  The school will be opened initially in temporary buildings, on a site yet to be determined, in September 2020, moving to its permanent site in September 2021.  The school will open in a phased manner, allowing it to grow gradually to accommodate new pupils as the housing comes on line.

A competition to seek approved sponsors for both new schools started on Monday 1st April 2019 and will run until Friday 24th May 2019. Further details can be found at the following link https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schoolprojects.
