Stress Indicator Tool

Published
14.05.2021

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has created a Stress Indicator Tool which is available for free to all employers with 50 or less employees.

The survey will help you understand your school’s risk profile for work-related stress.

The Stress Indicator Tool can be accessed from the Health and Safety Executive website. You can amend the survey to add your school’s branding, add questions and tailor the terminology to suit your school. The tool also allows you to run summary reports and provides recommendations to address identified issues.

With a total of thirty-five questions, the survey assesses six key areas of work that, if not managed properly, are known to be root causes of stress.

If you become aware that an employee is suffering from work-related stress, support can be sought from Occupational Health and Human Resources and you should consider appropriate reasonable adjustments. You can also signpost employees to the Employee Assistance Programme for further support. Please remember the EAP is free to all schools and their staff for the next year.
