The government announced yesterday that serial testing of close contacts within secondary and special school settings should temporarily pause.
Schools have been told to continue to test their staff regularly (twice-weekly where possible, in line with recommendations for other workforces that need to leave home to work) and test pupils twice upon return to school, as has been the case since the start of January. A position statement from PHE and the NHS can be found here
For primary schools, some that were due to receive their test kits on Tuesday 19 January will not receive that delivery until a week later on Tuesday 26 January. This is due to constraints related to the stock of test kits. If you have not received your delivery by Wednesday 27 January, please contact the DfE coronavirus (COVID-19) helpdesk on 0800 046 8687.
