Vision 2050 Essay competition and lesson plan
You may have already heard about the Vision 2050 project, and the conversation taking place with residents to develop a plan that sets out a great future for our county.
We know that Gloucestershire has an ageing population and that we are continuing to lose young people aged 18-35 from our county. Doing nothing isn’t an option. The Vision 2050 plan, which stretches three decades, strives to help the county grow - shaping it into a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and study. You can find out more about the plan and comment on the ideas at www.glos2050.com
We want to give those aged 35 and under the opportunity to give us an insight into the age group we currently lose. So we have set up an essay competition for students, and a lesson plan for teachers so students can give us feedback on their county and what they would like to see in the future.
We are looking for 450 words, and it’s open to students 16-18 on what they would like Gloucestershire to be for them in 30 years time. First prize is £100 with £500 to the school with the most entries. The lesson plan can be adapted to different age groups and subject areas, and comes with student worksheet, as well as online resources (video, posters). Lesson plan and worksheet downloadable and more are resources available at https://glos2050.com/bgo/eventpack.asp
