Wellbeing support for school staff

Published
12.05.2021

We recently shared details of additional wellbeing support which the county council is giving to all schools, academies, MATs and independents from 1 May. We have launched a Schoolsnet page which gives details of the offer. More information is now available here.

What information does the schools net page contain?

The support includes access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provided by Health Assured, one of the UK’s leading providers of Employee Assistance and Reflective Supervision provided from GCC’s Occupational Health team.

EAP

24/7 telephone services are available for individuals to access support, information and in-the-moment telephone counselling, through an in-house team of BACP counsellors and expert advisors.

Health Assured provide support on a range of issues including personal, financial and legal matters. Services can also be accessed using telephone, email, online, minicom and LiveAgent chat, with translation services available for those whose first language is not English. Health Assured also accept manager referrals from Head Teachers and School Business Managers. To watch a short video about the service click on the link above.

Reflective Supervision

We are also able to extend our offer of Reflective Supervision to schools by offering up to 100 spaces to schools, with up to 4 sessions per participant.

Here’s some of the feedback we have had so far:

As a Gloucestershire head teacher I found Reflective Supervision an invaluable source of support for me during my headship.  Having time and space to speak to a reflective supervisor enabled me to talk through challenges and make sense of complicated situations. It helped me manage my stress levels and gave me a sense of control over all I was dealing with.’  (Former Primary Head Teacher, Gloucestershire)

‘A lot of the challenges and the demands of the role are still there but since the sessions I do feel more resilient. I have got some strategies that I can utilise to help manage this and to make sure I look after myself’ (Member of school SLT, Gloucestershire).
