What Works Directory for Education Professionals (update)

Gloucestershire County Council, in partnership with Social Finance UK, is working to improve the access of information regarding local Gloucestershire services that support children and young people (CYP). The project sets out to build an online Directory that will provide an enhanced solution for education professionals and practitioners who work with CYP. The Directory aims to ensure access to up-to-date, relevant evidence-based services and interventions for CYP in a timely and effective way.

As a result of our 6-month Discovery phase, which is now completed, we have been able to capture feedback from an extensive range of professionals including – SENCOS, Teachers, Ed Psychologists, Service Providers and Advisory services. This user research has helped to inform the priorities and requirements needed from an online directory. We have understood the pain points currently experienced and sought solutions for development of robust platform.

In consultation with our digital partners, we are now preparing to develop an initial prototype online directory for testing from mid June. Your role in this phase is essential in informing its development, from its design, useability, and confidence that it will be fit for purpose. We therefore encourage you to share your views to shape further delivery of a resource that is designed specifically to support you.

We would appreciate representation from all education professionals across the local authority to reflect varying needs, for example NQTs, Classroom teachers, SENDCOS, Pastoral care etc. Our intention is to ensure participants in this phase represent the diversity and inclusivity of our schools and region.

We believe that an enhanced Directory will improve understanding of what is available locally and how to access services. Helping to create a better understanding of which intervention would be most effective and appropriate for a CYP supporting users to access help sooner.

We are grateful for your support, please register your interest with Sian and Bethan by Monday 13th June 2022  to participate in this vital testing at and

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions regarding the project.
