Alternative provision schools

Alternative Provision (AP) schools have the same delegated powers and duties as maintained schools and are no longer a central service provided by the Local Authority

There are three separate AP schools covering the county.  Each has its own arrangements in place to provide support and advice for schools situated in their local area.  Schools can contact the AP schools directly to discuss what may be available to support them with children at risk of exclusion.

In addition, the Local Authority has commissioned a number of places from the AP schools to provide education for children who have been permanently excluded from school, children who do not have a school place, and children who have moved schools because of the Child-in-Care Transfer protocol.
