MIND OF MY OWN

The Mind of My Own One App is a free App that can be used by any pupil who has support from Children’s Social Care or Early Help in Gloucestershire County Council.

This includes early help, support from the disability teams, family group conference, and any pupil who is in care, has a child in need plan or child protection plan.

As DSL or DT, you are key to introducing the One App to pupils in your school and staff who work directly with those pupils.

What is the Mind of My Own OneApp?

·        A pupil can use it before Child in Care Reviews, PEP meetings, Team around the Child meetings, Child Protection Conferences, Child in Need meetings or any other meeting.

·         The Mind of My Own OneApp (www.mindofmyown.org.uk) makes it easier for children and young people to structure their thoughts and say what they want to say. It also helps them talk to their workers in Children’s Services by allowing them to send their views on to them any time they want, 24/7.

·        They can use OneApp on their own but often doing it with someone in school will help them talk about how they are feeling and what they’d like to change.

·        During assessments, visits and before meetings, it helps children and young people manage those events and creates a stronger record of their wishes and feelings.

·      It is easy to use and will give another way of finding their voice if they struggle to verbalise their feelings.

·      The pupil has more flexibility with telling their worker what is happening without having to wait for meetings, can tell them if there is a problem or if they are feeling unsafe.

·       It gives control to the pupil – their own words, they can use it whenever they want, use technology instead of forms.

How do you and your staff support pupils to use the One App?

·        The Mind of My Own OneApp can be downloaded onto an Android or Apple device, or you can access it online through an internet browser at https://one.mindofmyown.org.uk/

·       A pupil can sign up for an account on one device but can then log in on any device they want. (Children as young as 5 years old have used the One App with support up to 18 plus)
