The Community Speedwatch Fund

Applications for phase two are now closed. The bid process for Community Speedwatch closed on January 31 2023, following issue of information to all towns and parish councils. We have received 98 bids in total which we are assessing and will contract all applications individually. No new bids will be accepted. We will issue further details on the web site to inform of the successful bids and the locations and activities of all equipment, signs, road safety audits in the weeks to come.

We want to make a greener, safer, and healthier Gloucestershire. That’s why we are launching the £600,000 Community Speed Watch Safety Fund in partnership with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. This fund will provide communities with the tools they need to combat speeding in their area, helping to make our roads safer for everyone who uses them to walk, cycle, and drive.

We will be funding Community Speedwatch cameras to help enforce speed limits, as well as vehicle activated signage. We will also be helping community groups by funding speed surveys, on site meetings with road safety officers, and providing wheelie bin signage.

These tools, used together and alongside the Road Safety Policy we are developing, will help communities across the county to make their area a safer place for everyone.
