Why are Funds not being directed towards maintaining roads in a safe condition and improving pavements.
Money would be better spent on maintenance of roads and routes already in use.
The infrastructure is already there. Spend the money it on improving the roads instead.
Money should be spent investing in better local bus networks and lowering bus fares. This scheme will do nothing to lower pollution in the area.
Make traffic outside schools less dangerous by adding double yellow lines and traffic calming measures rather than spending the money on a cycleway.

Gloucestershire County Council have secured over £40 million of funding to date for the 26-mile cycle spine between Stroud and Bishops Cleeve. Funding has been secured from Sustrans, National Highways, DfT bids for Levelling Up and Active Travel, alongside this GCC have committed Capital Funds.
The funding for these schemes is designated for Active Travel schemes only and cannot be used for other works such as pothole repairs or general maintenance. GCC went through a rigorous bidding process to secure the funding from central government, had this been unsuccessful the money would have been allocated to other local authorities for cycling schemes elsewhere in England.
