Following concerns raised about the safety of the B4079 “Seven Bends” road, we have now completed our investigation and it has shown that the surface on a number of bends has “polished up”. This is likely to be a result of HGV use, despite the weight limit on the road. We have taken immediate action, with warning signs and a temporary speed restriction of 40mph put in place. Gloucestershire Police have been asked to enforce weight restrictions and to take appropriate action as soon as possible. In the longer term, we will carry out a remedial “texturing” surface treatment to increase skid resistance. As this is best applied in colder weather, this will take place later in the year.
