Julie Miles - Director for Children and Families

I am proud to be Gloucestershire's Director for Children and Families, having spent more than 25 years working within Children's Services across the county. My career began as a social worker and has taken me through a range of frontline and leadership roles, giving me a deep understanding of the challenges, opportunities and strengths within our communities. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to improving outcomes for children, young people and families, while supporting our workforce to do their best work.
Having been part of Gloucestershire's improvement journey for many years, I am passionate about building on the progress we have made. My ambition is for Gloucestershire to continue to be a place where children and young people can thrive, where families receive the right support at the right time, and where our workforce feels valued, supported and empowered to make a difference. I believe that strong relationships, a positive and inclusive culture, and a commitment to continuous learning are key to achieving this.
I'm looking forward to spending time with teams across the county, listening to colleagues, celebrating success and learning from the experiences of those delivering services every day. Together, we can continue to strengthen our services and ensure that children and families in Gloucestershire receive the very best support possible
