"I love working within such a beautiful county. Gloucester Docks have some lovely views and places to eat out. There are high street chains and independent retail stores within central Gloucester and Cheltenham close by. The Forest of Dean and Herefordshire are within driving distance, there's something for everyone." - Amy, a Senior Social Worker
Gloucestershire is home to three main landscape areas including a large part of the Cotswolds, the Royal Forest of Dean and the Severn Vale. If you enjoy peace and tranquillity with beautiful views of the countryside these areas are the ideal place for you!
Away from the big city life, you have one of the most beautiful areas of the UK at your fingertips. There are 51 Wildlife Trust Reserves in Gloucestershire alone, many interlinked by 102 miles of “The Cotswold Way” - a National Trail Route which will take you across rolling countryside, chocolate box Cotswold villages and riverside rambles.
If you prefer a faster pace of life, Gloucester and Cheltenham have exciting new developments, with lots going on to entertain the whole family. Cheltenham is home to many festivals including horse racing, food and drink, jazz, literature and science. Its town centre is well loved for its wide range of designer shops and restaurants as well as its beautiful buildings and gardens.
In Gloucester you’ll also be at the heart of Premiership Rugby, near Kingsholm – the home of Gloucester Rugby. If your taste for adventure is a little more obscure, you are also in the home of Cheese rolling and of surfing the second biggest tidal range in the world – The Severn Bore!
