With electric bikes making it more and more accessible for people to cycle if the infrastructure allowed them to feel safe and there was somewhere safe to leave a bike then I think car use would drop considerably.

The biggest thing putting me off from cycling in the area is having to share the road with the cars. Having a high-quality cycle route that keeps cyclists safe will enable me to build my confidence and cycle most of my local routes, instead of drive.

Honestly it is so scary being a cyclist especially female. Men motorists have often shouted at me - one pulled over and got out of his car to have a go at me. I cycle the road from Churchdown to Cheltenham currently and the cars rarely give me the safe amount of space. I cannot wait until the cycle Lane is finished; I will feel much safer.

I am a confident cyclist, but some road junctions make me feel unsafe with having to either squeeze past cars in a cycle lane or to move across the road to get into a cycle lane. This proposal would remove that level of risk and could only help more people take up cycling.

I am glad to see this scheme being developed. I feel cyclists and pedestrians need a higher priority.

Very poor cycling facilities: the scheme is much needed.

I have over 25 years cycle commuting experience mostly between Cheltenham and Gloucester plus over 15 years’ experience family cycling with children on the roads around the county. Unfortunately cycling in Gloucestershire requires a high level of experience in skills to reduce risk and plan safe routes. The new Cheltenham to Gloucester cycling highway is long overdue and I love it - it is an example of safe active travel suitable for all.

It's great cycling for fitness and help the environment.

I regular cycle into the city centre along London Road and it has always felt dangerous that the excellent cycle paths abruptly stop as you get near the junction. This kind of scheme would encourage me to cycle with my children into the city centre.

I run alongside my son on his scooter every day on the school run. Bikes are often competing with us for the footpath. I don't feel safe cycling or having my children cycle on the roads, we need cycle lanes.

I cycle for pleasure so choose routes that are pleasant/safe. If these cycle route improvements went ahead, I could cycle across town to visit family whereas I currently would drive. I enjoy cycling along quiet roads and the canal towpaths but find cycling along main roads intimidating. The suggested improvements will give me confidence to cycle to places around Gloucester and towards Cheltenham rather than drive.
