This area has been identified as a collision ‘hot spot’, with a history of collisions involving cyclists and pedestrians. The design aims to improve safety by fully segregating pedestrians, cyclists and road traffic, narrowing the road, reducing speeds and improving visibility. 

Traffic count data was gathered for the Spa Road mini roundabout. The information highlighted that there are fewer vehicle movements coming from Spa Road and Llanthony Road and that a give-way junction is a preferable option to the existing mini roundabout.
