Llanthony Road forms part of the wider Gloucester City Centre cycle spine. Llanthony Road section will deliver improvements to provide safe on-carriageway cycling between Llanthony Lift Bridge and the A430 Llanthony Road including improved cycle access to Severn Road and the existing National Cycle Network Routes 41 and 45.
The improvements support our ambitions for a Greener Gloucestershire, aligns with our aims of becoming carbon net zero by 2045, supports improvements to public health and make it easier for people to cycle and walk to work, homes and transport hubs. The scheme will contribute towards a significant cycling and walking network across Gloucestershire, improving safety, quality and connectivity.

The improvements include:
- Pedestrian footway improvements.
- Upgrading of access to current cycle route along the canal.
- Construction of a two way fully segregated cycleway with links north onto Severn Road.

The junction will have an improved raised pedestrian and cyclist priority crossing across Severn Road. There are no planned changes to the junction of the A430 Llanthony Bypass and Llanthony Road.
