Locations

It is the intention that early engagement on proposals for these locations will be completed in 2026. Dates for the delivery of future phases in these locations, including the formal Traffic Order process and delivery phase, will be confirmed at a later date, subject to outcomes from the early engagement period.   

Gloucestershire County Council identified these initial locations by undertaking a thorough prioritisation exercise, which is decided by several factors.  Firstly, areas where there are a significant range of road safety and public health challenges, including collision levels, and levels of deprivation.  Secondly, areas which were identified through engagement with parish and district councillors, who were invited to submit a request for their community to be considered for the initiative. Consideration has also been given to the deliverability of areas in the selection process as well as the acknowledgement of significant community concerns around safety of crossing points and need for consistent speed limits.   

While the initial priority locations have been identified based on both assessed need and submissions from parish councils and district councillors, the programme is being delivered in phases over a four-year period. As the initiative progresses, further areas will be delivered. Updates regarding future phases and selection of additional communities will be communicated directly to communities and their representatives to kick off the Early Design and Engagement phase for their location.
