With regard to the Cross Keys Roundabout signalisation scheme, the Stage 3 Road Safety Audit has now been completed. We have identified a number of actions that need to be addressed before the traffic signals can be brought into operation.
The scheme is relatively complex as elements of the work were delivered by Gloucestershire County Council on behalf of the developer under a separate agreement. We are currently working with the developer to agree responsibility for the remaining outstanding items and are making good progress towards a clear allocation of actions between the developer and the County Council.
The overbridge presents a separate and more complex issue. During the development process, the proposed use of the bridge changed and the implications of introducing two-way traffic in closer proximity to the existing bridge parapets were not fully considered at the time. As a result, we are awaiting an addendum to the structure's Approval in Principle (AiP) from the developer.
Once this information has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the County Council's Structures Team. That review will determine whether any further assessment or physical works are required before the bridge can safely accommodate two-way traffic.
Given the technical nature of the review process, and the potential for additional works to be identified, it is likely to be several months before all matters are resolved and the necessary changes can be implemented.
We will continue to work closely with the developer and provide updates as the position becomes clearer.
