Temporary closures
Temporary closures of Public Rights of Way are shown on our online map. This can be accessed via the Public Rights of Way map. Please make sure you have the 'Temporary path closures' layer selected on the left hand side and zoomed in until the box becomes ungreyed (map level 14), otherwise the closures won't appear on the map.
Temporary closure orders authorise the closure of paths for up to six months. If works exceed the initial six months, it is necessary to apply to the Secretary of State for Transport for an extension to the Legal Order. Generally, applicants must pay a fee and give the county council at least 12 weeks notice. However emergency closures will occasionally be used where unforeseen problems occur.
For further information and an application form to apply for a temporary closure please contact PROWTempclosures@gloucestershire.gov.uk
If the closure is urgent, please contact 08000 514514.
