Temporary closures
Temporary closures of Public Rights of Way are shown on our online map. This can be accessed via the Public Rights of Way map. Please make sure you have the 'Temporary path closures' layer selected on the left hand side and zoomed in until the box becomes ungreyed (map level 14), otherwise the closures won't appear on the map.
Temporary closure orders authorise the closure of paths for up to six months. If works exceed the initial six months, it is necessary to apply to the Secretary of State for Transport for an extension to the Legal Order. Generally, applicants must pay a fee and give the county council at least 12 weeks notice. However emergency closures will occasionally be used where unforeseen problems occur.

Lydbrook Bridge
Public Footpaths RLY 44 (Gloucestershire County) and WBK 4a (Herefordshire County) are to be closed from the 15th April 2026 by Emergency Notice

M5 J10 Scheme
Various Public Rights of Way within the Parishes of Boddington & Uckington will be affected during the construction of the new M5 J10 scheme.

M5 Footbridge replacement.
ECN 77 in the Parish of Churchdown and EUL 20 in the Parish of Upton St Leonards
The M5 footbridges that form a Part of Public Footpaths ECN 77 and EUL 20 will be closed from the 9th March 2026.

Public Rights of Way Closures relating to the A417 Missing Link.
As part of the A417 Missing Link Highway scheme some of the Public Rights of Way will need to be temporarily closed during the construction phase of the project. The current closures relating to the project will be listed below including the Legal Order, Site Notice and Order Plan. Cotswold Way Closure
Please note the Cotswold Way will be closed at the Air Ballon Roundabout from the 29th May 2026. The Alternative Route can be found on Order Plan and further information regarding the Cotswold Way can be found at: Cotswold Way Map and Information - National Trails
ABA 87, ABA 89 in the Parish of Badgeworth and ACY 24 (ABP 15) in the Parish of Cowley (Birdlip)
Public Footpaths ABA 89 and ACY 24 (ABP 15) and Public Bridleway ABA 87 are due to be closed from the beginning of June 2023 until March 2027
