Inspections

Inspections

Our inspectors check roads, footways and cycleways for potholes regularly. Busy 'A' roads are for example inspected monthly, whereas quieter routes are inspected less often. Potholes can form quickly, so it helps us if you can identify and report potholes. When you report a pothole we log it and schedule a repair where required.

You can find out more about how often we carry out our inspections in our Highways Inspection policy.

Roads we don’t maintain

National Highways trunk roads, for example the A40, A417 / A419 and the motorways, are not roads which the county council maintain. Private or unadopted roads which are part of new developments should be maintained by the land owner or developer.
