A Spring in our Step (and Wheel)
Two events are taking place this month to encourage people to take up walking or cycling.
What do you think you could achieve on your bike in one week? Cycling group Love to Ride is launching its Ride Anywhere Week from 21 to 27 March so you can find out.

It challenges riders to pick a pledge and complete it within a week. It is free to register and you can choose from one of four pledges:
- Ride for health and fitness
- Ride for transportation
- Ride for adventure
- Ride with kids
Whether you want to ride more with your family, or embark on new riding experiences, Love to Ride will support you with helpful tips, tricks and tools. For more information see www.lovetoride.net/gloucestershire
The Big Walk and Wheel is the UK’s biggest inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school competition.
It is run by walking and cycling charity Sustrans and takes place from 21 March to 1 April. So far more than 20 schools in the county have registered. You can see the full list and more details here: https://bigwalkandwheel.org.uk/lists/49

On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling to school.
Formerly known as Sustrans Big Pedal, it still has the same aim – to encourage more families to travel to school actively to create happier and healthier communities.
As well as the environmental impact, walking and cycling carries many physical and mental health benefits, so why not give it a go!
