Modeshift Dessert

Your school has made a significant pledge and commitment to changing travel habits with more and more families choosing the bike, scooter or walking to and from school at least some of the time. Over time, your School Travel Plan will highlight how you maximise the impact on the community, with more bespoke interventions.

Living Streets have a mission is to achieve a better walking environment and inspire people to walk more. WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It's that easy!
Local, national or even international advocates can be a focus through assemblies, workshops or invitations to speak. There are also a number of external workshops included in our Engagement Handbook. Contact your Thinktravel Officer for more information including Gloucestershire’s very own Skillzone centre teaching all your children need to keep safe.
Family and Community Involvement
Does your school border a busy road? Why not consider a community response to providing pedestrian marshalling? Thinktravel can provide all the training, support and risk- assessment you need!
There are a whole range of ways you can encourage families. Did you know we can even help with basic bike maintenance sessions? Why not lead a community bike ride or local walk, perhaps including a treasure hunt, quiz or simply an appreciation of the places we live and work in?
A Local Highways Manager and team are on hand to advise on highways issues and your Thinktravel Officer can help guide you through a road safety audit. There are a range of ways to reduce congestion, improve safety and make streets more ‘liveable’ for everyone. Even simple street events can transform the spaces we use to make for more walking and cycle-friendly spaces!
