What is Technology Enabled Care and how can it help me?

Telecare is assistive technology aimed at keeping people safe and independent at home. A wide range of equipment is available depending on an individual's needs.

Telecare can provide equipment that is linked to a monitoring centre to alert family that are not on-site that the user needs help. This could include risks such as falling or leaving the property unexpectedly.

Telecare can also provide equipment that alerts on-site carers via a pager. It can also provide simple prompts to the user to help reduce the need for care visits.

How to access telecare

Everyone is entitled to ask Gloucestershire County Council for an Adult Social Care Assessment to see if they are eligible for help and support. This can include Telecare equipment and we provide funded equipment based on history of risk.

If you are not eligible, or would perhaps like equipment ‘just in case’, you can buy your own telecare equipment from a range of local providers. You can find Telecare providers on our website, or by using our Your Circle online directory.

If you would like a telecare assessment for yourself or family member, please contact the Adult Social Care Helpdesk on 01452 426 868. They will take some details to help with the referral process. The referral will then be screened and if a full assessment is required, you will be contacted to arrange a home visit.
