Blue Badges for organisations

Blue Badges for organisations

An organisation may be eligible for a badge (or multiple badges) if it both:

  • cares for or assists people who would be eligible for a Blue Badge and
  • transports them

Organisations can apply for a Blue Badge and pay the £10 issue fee online at GOV.UK.  The fee will be refunded if the organisation is not eligible for a badge. Organisations must provide registration details of vehicles for which a Blue Badge is required.

Organisations must be able to demonstrate that there is a good reason to have an organisational badge rather than using the individual badges of the people they transport.  Residential care homes, hospices or local council social services are examples of organisations that may be eligible.

Please note: Blue Badges are not issued to taxis, private hire or community transport operators as, although they transport disabled people, they are not involved in their care.

Organisations may only display a Blue Badge when someone who would be eligible for a badge in their own right is being transported. Drivers may be fined if they use the badge to take advantage of concessions when there are no such passengers in the vehicle.
