Barnwood House

Enabling. Enhancing. Enriching.

Barnwood House is a small, nurturing, and therapeutically supportive home designed for up to two children of all genders, aged 9 to 14, with a particular focus on supporting children aged 10 to 13 at admission.

Our purpose is to provide intensive, highly individualised care that helps children overcome challenges, rediscover their strengths, and build the confidence they need to thrive in a stable family environment.

Whether a young person’s journey leads to long‑term fostering or reunification with birth family, we work closely with families and foster carers from the very beginning, sharing strategies, building relationships, and ensuring transitions are handled with care and consistency.

We are recruiting staff and all adverts will be posted on our Children’s Home Recruitment page so please do keep checking for updates.

How We Support Children and Young People

At Barnwood House, children experience a safe and nurturing environment where they can feel protected, valued, and understood. The home offers a calm, homely atmosphere that helps children settle and develop a sense of belonging. They are encouraged to explore stimulating and developmental opportunities, trying new activities, discovering their interests, and building confidence through positive and enjoyable experiences. Strong, trusting relationships sit at the heart of our approach; we prioritise meaningful connections between children and staff, as well as between the young people themselves, so that every child feels secure, cared for, and part of a supportive community. Each child also receives individualised, trauma‑informed support that is tailored to their unique experiences, needs, and aspirations. By understanding behaviour as communication and providing thoughtful, responsive care, we work to reduce barriers, strengthen resilience, and help children move forward with hope and confidence.

What Will It Be Like to Live at Barnwood House?

Every child in our care has the right to:

  • Feel safe, loved, and happy
  • Be treated with fairness, respect, and dignity
  • Have a voice in decisions that affect them
  • Maintain meaningful relationships with family and friends
  • Receive consistent support with their education and personal goals
  • Live in a home that values and celebrates their identity, culture, and beliefs

Our role is to make these rights a daily reality.
