Barnwood House
Barnwood House is a nurturing and supportive home designed to accommodate up to two children of all genders, aged 9 to 14 years, with a focus on those between 10 and 13 years at the time of admission.
We are recruiting staff and all adverts will be posted on our Children’s Home Recruitment page so please do keep checking for updates.
We aim to provide intensive, individualized support to help children overcome the challenges they face and develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in a family environment. Whether the goal is long-term fostering or reunification with their birth family, our team works closely with families and foster carers from the start, sharing strategies and support to ensure a smooth transition.

How will we support children and young people?
Our ethos is “Enabling, Enhancing, Enriching.” This philosophy guides everything we do at Barnwood House. We offer:
- Safe and Nurturing Environment: We provide a secure and comfortable home where children can feel safe, supported, and valued.
- Stimulating and Developmental Opportunities: Children are encouraged to explore new experiences and opportunities that support their growth and development.
- Positive Relationships: We foster meaningful connections between children and staff, and among the children themselves, helping them build lasting friendships and a sense of belonging.
- Individualized Support: Our trauma-informed approach ensures that each child receives care tailored to their unique needs and circumstances, helping them overcome barriers and build resilience.
What will it be like to live here?
We believe that every child at Barnwood House has the right to:
- Feel safe, loved, and happy.
- Be treated with respect and fairness.
- Have a say in their care and decisions that affect their lives.
- Maintain contact with family and friends.
- Receive a good education and support for their aspirations.
- Live in a home that values their culture, background, and beliefs.
