Youth Support Management Information Team

Gloucestershire's Youth Support Team, Management Information Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the database, internal and external reporting including statutory reporting, and Freedom of Information and similar requests.

The MI Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the database, internal and external reporting including statutory reporting, and Freedom of Information and similar requests.

Part of Gloucestershire County Council, the team works with agencies such as the Youth Justice Partnership Board (YJPB), DfE and NDTMS.

Some of the tasks we consistently achieve:

·        Reports and returns completed accurately and on time, including urgent ad hoc report requests

·        Comprehensive analysis reports in place for Youth Justice

·        Supporting improvement seen on several YST teams’ KPIs

·        Year on year collaborative work with the ETE and Opportunity Support [Tracking] teams to achieve low ETE and Not Known figures, high September Guarantee figures and high Activity Survey performance for the DfE

·        Continued support for Youth Justice Performance Surgeries and Practice Forums

·        Continued support to staff in the use of Core+ and other systems

·        Supporting the recording Data Protection to improve practice across YST teams

·        Embedding new development in the YJPB report

·        Support the Department of Health and Social Care substance misuse dataset

·        Monitoring of YST 1 to 1 caseload listings

  • Moving the YST towards trouble-free access, reading, recording and reporting of Core+

Who we are

The MI Team is made up of a group of skilled individuals who work to ensure that operational teams in the Youth Support Team can get the most from the service database Core+, an integrated database holding information for Youth Justice, Post Year 11 pupils for Education, Training & Employment, Exploitation & Complex Engagement, Substance Misuse, U18s Missing Team, Activities Team & Youth Work.

This team is made up of 1 team manager, 2 FTE Management Information Officers, 1 Management Information Assistant [vacancy].

Where we are based

gloucesterThe team covers the county of Gloucestershire and staff work in a hybrid manner, with the office base in The Vibe Youth Club, Coney Hill, Gloucester, GL4 4RE

As with all teams we can work in an agile way, working from other locality offices where needed or required. 

Skills you'll need

The team supports professionals working with some of the most vulnerable and unique children within Gloucestershire and to be part of the team you will need the following experience/knowledge and skills:

  •         Ability to work as a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software and previous experience of working with database
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate concisely and effectively
  • Demonstrable experience of providing excellent colleague service skills
  • Understanding of our client group and the barriers our colleagues may face
  • Understanding of data protection and information security
  • Experience of Crystal Reports or other data extraction tool, including report writing skills
  • Knowledge of statutory return schedules and processes
  • Good colleague care skills
  • Able to articulate the requirements around Freedom of Information and Data Protection
  • Adaptable and willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and locations if/when required
  • Able to prioritise regularly changing workloads
