We are excited to share that we’re preparing to open our first new children’s homes later this year.
Children's home

We have been working hard to develop local, high-quality accommodation for children in our care as we believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where they can thrive. Our children’s homes will be more than just a place to stay; they will be a stepping stone to a brighter future for children in our care.

We have now submitted our registration to Ofsted for our first two new homes, Barnwood House and London Road. Both Barnwood House and London Road Children’s Homes are new provisions developed in line with the National Framework based on “Stable Homes, Built on Love.” Central to the National Framework is a belief that the lives of children, young people and families can be different. Our aim is to provide high quality love, care, protection and stability for children / young people using a trauma–informed approach.

Barnwood House is a welcoming home that will offer accommodation for up to two children between the ages of 9 and 14 years. Our primary goal will be to provide intensive support and care, helping children and young people successfully transition back into a family setting. The philosophy, underpinning all interventions within Barnwood House, is based upon a trauma-informed approach whereby all staff will be actively supported to work in this way. We understand the importance of family and strive to work collaboratively with families or foster carers as early as possible. Our approach will include sharing intervention techniques and support strategies to ensure consistency and continuity of care. By working together, we will aim to create a seamless and positive transition for the children, making sure they feel supported and prepared for the next step in their journey. Barnwood House is committed to making a difference in the lives of younger children in Gloucestershire.

London Road is a larger home that provides accommodation for up to 8 children and young people between the ages of 13 and 17 years. It will be home to four children who require long term residential care and there are four self-contained studio flats to enable children to progress towards independence in a safe and caring environment. Achieving positive outcomes for children in care and care leavers and enabling them to meet their potential starts with effective support when children are in care. London Road Children’s Home aims to prepare children for the next stage of their life, including long-term residential care and planned independent living. Our focus is to support children and young people to become independent by fostering their resilience and equipping them with essential life skills to ensure a smooth and confident transition to adulthood. This support includes teaching them practical skills such as managing finances, cooking, and maintaining personal hygiene, alongside promoting emotional resilience through problem-solving, decision-making, and coping strategies. The staff team will encourage self-reliance and provide opportunities for children to make choices and take responsibility for their actions to help them build their confidence and adaptability. By creating a nurturing environment that balances guidance with independence, the team at London Road Children’s Home will empower children to face future challenges with confidence, ultimately leading to more successful and fulfilling adult lives.
