Can my request be refused?

The rights to erasure and restriction do not apply if the use of your personal data is necessary for one of the following reasons:

Council services are often a statutory requirement, meaning we have a legal obligation to provide them. - We use your information for performing a task that is in the public interested or we have a duty to provide the service and you have not successfully . Council services are often provided as part of our duty or in the public interest of the residents of Gloucestershire.
- Your data is being used for archiving in the public interest, scientific research historical research or statistical purposes, where erasure or restriction is likely to render the purpose impossible or seriously impair achievement.
- Where it is held for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
